Removing tacking strips is easier if you use a pry bar. A useful tip is to loosen each tack with the pry bar, rather than levering the whole piece up – which can cause splintering. Just pop each individual tack loose as you move along the strip. Ensure all tacks and other debris are vacuumed up before moving onto the next stage, since anything left under the laminate will become obvious once the floor is laid.
